Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, and flour until crumbly.
  2. Set aside 2/3 to 1 cup of the mixture for the topping.
  3. To the remaining mixture, add the egg, baking soda, salt, milk, and vanilla.
  4. Mix well and pour into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  5. Sprinkle the reserved crumbs on top.
  6. Sprinkle with chocolate chips or chopped nuts if desired.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
  8. Cool and cut into slices.
