Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • dash of cayenne pepper
  • sliced almonds
  • 2 cups shredded sharp natural Cheddar cheese
  • 2 (10 oz.) packages frozen broccoli or asparagus spears
  • 3 pounds chicken breasts

Instructions

  1. Make a white sauce with margarine, flour, milk, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Add 1 3/4 cups of shredded sharp Cheddar cheese; stir until melted.
  3. Arrange cooked and sliced chicken and broccoli or asparagus in an 11 3/4 x 7 1/2-inch baking dish.
  4. Pour the cheese sauce over the arranged ingredients.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 35 to 40 minutes, or until hot.
  6. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and sliced almonds before serving.
