Ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 (29 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 (29 oz.) kidney beans
  • 1 (29 oz.) pinto beans
  • 1/2 can chili peppers
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 (15 oz.) diced tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons cumin powder
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups water
  • Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a heavy pot; drain off excess fat. Crumble into small pieces.
  2. In a large pot, combine kidney beans, pinto beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, diced onion, diced celery, chili peppers, cumin powder, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and water.
  3. Add the cooked ground beef to the large pot.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer over low heat.
  5. Cook, stirring every 20 to 30 minutes, for 2 to 3 hours to develop flavor.
  6. Serve hot, sprinkled with shredded Cheddar cheese.
