Ingredients
- 2 cups leftover meat, sliced thin and in strips ⓘ
- 6 tablespoons olive oil ⓘ
- 6 tablespoons flour ⓘ
- 2 medium onions, finely chopped ⓘ
- 1 cup celery, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced ⓘ
- 1 (10 oz.) beef gravy or gravy mix ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon Accent ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon oregano ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme ⓘ
- 1 bay leaf ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce ⓘ
- 1 (3 oz.) can mushrooms ⓘ
- 1/2 cup Claret or sherry wine
- 4 carrots, sliced and parboiled ⓘ
- 4 potatoes, chopped and parboiled ⓘ
Instructions
- Make a dark roux using 6 tablespoons of olive oil and 6 tablespoons of flour.
- Saute the chopped onions, celery, and minced garlic until they are clear.
- Add the remaining ingredients including the meat and simmer for 30 minutes.
- While the meat mixture is cooking, parboil the sliced carrots and chopped potatoes.
- Add the parboiled carrots and potatoes to the meat mixture after 30 minutes.
- Cook for an additional 5 minutes, then add 1/2 cup of Claret or sherry wine.
- Cook for another 5 minutes before serving, over rice, noodles, or bread.
