Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup quick cooking rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine boiling water and rolled oats; let cool.
  2. Cream margarine, light brown sugar, white sugar, and vanilla; beat in eggs.
  3. Blend in oatmeal mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and beat for one minute at medium speed.
  6. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top without stirring.
  8. Bake for 35 minutes at 350°F.
  9. Let cool before sprinkling with powdered sugar and serving.
