Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 13 oz can chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green pepper
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 oz Gruyere cheese
  • 4 oz American cheese

Instructions

  1. Combine shredded carrots and chopped celery in chicken broth; cover and simmer until tender.
  2. Cook chopped onion, chopped green pepper, and butter until tender.
  3. Blend in flour; add milk and cook, stirring constantly, until it comes to a boil and is thick.
  4. Cook for 2 minutes; then add to the broth mixture.
  5. Reduce heat and stir in Gruyere cheese and American cheese until melted.
  6. Season to taste and serve.
