Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef ⓘ
- 1 lb. steak (beef, pork or venison) ⓘ
- 1 large onion ⓘ
- 1 large green pepper ⓘ
- 2 to 3 cloves garlic ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. cumin ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. basil ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder ⓘ
- 2 bay leaves ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. celery seed ⓘ
- 2 cans beans (pinto or kidney) ⓘ
- 2 cans whole peeled tomatoes ⓘ
- 1 fresh jalapeno pepper ⓘ
- salt and pepper ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. ground cayenne pepper ⓘ
Instructions
- Cut steak into cubes and small strips.
- Cube the onion and green pepper.
- In a large frying pan, brown all the meat with half of the onion and green pepper over low heat.
- As the meat is browning, add chili powder, basil, celery seed, and half of the garlic.
- Add salt, pepper, and Texas Pete to taste.
- Add cumin and cayenne pepper.
- Cut jalapeno into rings and add to the meat as it cooks.
