Ingredients

  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • raisins or nuts (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 egg whites

Instructions

  1. Mix oats and boiling water and let stand until absorbed.
  2. Stir in margarine, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. Add flour, cinnamon, baking soda, brown sugar, and sugar. Mix well.
  4. Stir in oatmeal mixture and any optional raisins or nuts.
  5. Pour batter into a greased baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes.
