Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 rib celery, chopped
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (14 1/2 oz.) can beef broth
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 (15 oz.) can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 c. Coca-Cola
  • 1 tsp. hot pepper sauce
  • 1 tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Spray a 3-quart Dutch oven or pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Cook ground beef, chopped onion, and chopped celery over medium-high heat until the meat is browned and vegetables are tender.
  3. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add tomato sauce, beef broth, chili powder, garlic powder, paprika, and ground cumin to the pan.
  5. Stir in drained kidney beans, Coca-Cola, hot pepper sauce, and unsweetened cocoa powder.
  6. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 20-30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  7. Season with salt and black pepper to taste before serving.
