Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cube margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup hot coffee
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Mix together sugar, margarine, and egg; then add hot coffee.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon, then stir into the wet mixture.
  3. Add raisins and chopped nuts to the batter and mix well.
  4. Spread the batter evenly in a 10 x 15-inch jelly roll pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes.
  6. While still warm, prepare the frosting by mixing powdered sugar, vanilla, soft margarine, and hot coffee until smooth.
  7. Spread the frosting over the warm bars.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares.
