Crab (Or Shrimp) Bisque
A creamy seafood bisque featuring crab or shrimp, rich with mushrooms, seasoned with savory herbs, perfect for elegant dinners or comforting lunches.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup chopped onion ⓘ
- 1/2 cup sliced celery ⓘ
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine ⓘ
- 1/2 cup flour ⓘ
- 4 1/2 cups water ⓘ
- 1 chicken bouillon cube ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon ketchup ⓘ
- 1 can undiluted evaporated milk ⓘ
- 1 bay leaf ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt ⓘ
- 1 1/2 cups crab or 1/2 pound small shrimp ⓘ
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup ⓘ
- 1 can cream of chicken soup ⓘ
- 1 can chopped or sliced mushrooms (optional) ⓘ
Instructions
- Saute chopped onion and sliced celery in butter in a large saucepan.
- Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually add water while stirring to prevent lumps.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer gently for 5 minutes.
- Add cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, and crab or shrimp. Simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Discard the bay leaf.
- Stir in evaporated milk and reheat to serving temperature without boiling.
