Ingredients

  • 2 c. celery, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1/2 bay leaf
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/4 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. instant nonfat dry milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine celery, onion, bay leaf, garlic, and water in a pot.
  2. Cook for 15 minutes, or until celery is tender.
  3. Remove bay leaf from the pot.
  4. Drain the mixture and reserve the liquid.
  5. Set the vegetables aside.
  6. Add water to the reserved liquid to make 2 cups.
  7. Melt margarine in a saucepan.
  8. Stir in flour and dry milk slowly.
  9. Add the reserved liquid to the flour mixture, stirring constantly until smooth.
  10. Add salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  11. Add the vegetables to the mixture and blend until smooth.
