Crispy tuna balls are savory, golden-brown appetizers with a tender tuna center, perfect for parties or quick snacks, combining flavors of herbs, mayonnaise, and mustard.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 (6 1/2 to 7 oz.) cans tuna, drained
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup canned consomme
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs (fine)
  • finely crushed corn flakes

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except corn flake crumbs and mix well.
  2. Shape the mixture into small balls and roll in crushed corn flakes.
  3. Fry in hot deep oil (375°F) until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  4. These can be frozen up to 6 weeks and reheated for 15 minutes in a 375°F oven.
