Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. dates
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 2 1/4 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla to the creamed butter and mix well.
  3. Sift together the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt.
  4. Chop the dates and nuts into small pieces.
  5. Mix the chopped dates and nuts with the dry ingredients.
  6. Combine the dry mixture with the wet mixture until well blended.
  7. Ensure the dough is stiff enough to drop from the tip of a spoon.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a buttered cookie sheet.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 18 minutes.
