Ingredients

  • 2 c. dates, cut in pieces
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 c. Crisco (shortening)
  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 c. flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Combine dates, 1 cup water, sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan.
  2. Cook the mixture until thick, then allow it to cool.
  3. While the date mixture cools, prepare the cookie dough.
