Ingredients

  • 5 plain milk chocolate bars (1 3/8 oz.)
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups plain flour (unsifted)
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Melt milk chocolate bars and chocolate syrup over boiling water in the top of a double boiler.
  3. Add vanilla extract; set aside to cool.
  4. Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  6. Add the cooled chocolate mixture and blend thoroughly.
  7. Sift together the soda and flour; add to the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  8. Stir in chopped pecans.
  9. Pour batter into a large tube pan or Bundt pan.
  10. Bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
