Crispy, savory stuffed mushrooms filled with a flavorful chopped stem mixture, perfect as an appetizer or party snack for mushroom lovers and entertaining occasions.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. whole fresh mushrooms
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. grated onion
  • 1 tsp. dried parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. freeze-dried chives
  • 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp. unseasoned fine dry bread crumbs
  • butter flavor Crisco for frying
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Wash mushrooms and trim stems slightly.
  2. Remove stems from mushrooms and set caps aside.
  3. Finely chop the mushroom stems.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine chopped stems, 1 tablespoon butter, grated onion, parsley flakes, dried chives, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cook and stir over medium heat until the mushroom caps are tender.
  6. Remove from heat.
  7. Stir in 2 tablespoons of bread crumbs.
  8. Fill mushroom caps with the stuffing mixture, packing firmly and mounding slightly.
  9. Dip stuffed mushrooms in beaten egg, then coat with remaining bread crumbs.
  10. Deep-fry in butter-flavored Crisco until golden brown.
