Ingredients

  • 8 to 10 lasagna noodles
  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms
  • 1 (20 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. oregano
  • 1 Tbsp. basil
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 lb. Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 carton Ricotta cheese
  • Parmesan cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Rinse the lasagna noodles under warm water until soft.
  2. Do not cook the noodles before assembling the lasagna.
  3. Cook the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic in olive oil until browned.
  4. Add chopped green pepper, canned mushrooms, canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, and salt to the beef mixture. Simmer briefly to combine flavors.
  5. Layer cooked meat sauce, lasagna noodles, ricotta cheese, and shredded mozzarella in a baking dish.
  6. Repeat layers as desired, finishing with cheese on top.
  7. Bake until bubbly and golden brown on top.
