Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 2 cups chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 (1 lb.) package frozen okra and tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 package brown gravy mix
  • 2 cups chicken, ham, shrimp or smoked sausage

Instructions

  1. Saute vegetables and seasonings in oil until soft.
  2. Add broth, water, and brown gravy mix.
  3. Cook one hour on simmer.
  4. Add meat; heat thoroughly.
  5. Serve over cooked rice.
