Tips & Substitutions

Using vegetable broth instead of water adds depth. If you prefer a vegetarian version, simply omit the eggs and use plant-based milk or cream.

Serving Suggestions

This stuffing pairs beautifully with roasted poultry or as a side for a hearty vegetarian meal. Complement it with a side of cranberry sauce or a fresh salad like Anytime Salad for a balanced plate. It can also be served alongside dishes like Miss Sallie'S Candies Yams for a festive gathering.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, cover with foil and warm in a preheated oven at 350°F until heated through. You can also microwave individual portions for a quick snack or side.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this stuffing ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the stuffing a day in advance. Just mix all the ingredients and store it in the refrigerator. When ready to bake, transfer it to a pan and follow the baking instructions. This allows the flavors to meld nicely.

What type of bread works best for stuffing?

You can use any kind of bread, but stale bread works best as it absorbs moisture without becoming mushy. White bread, whole wheat, or even rolls can be used. Experiment with different types to find your preferred flavor and texture.

Can I add other ingredients to the stuffing?

Absolutely! Feel free to customize the stuffing by adding ingredients like dried fruits, sausage, or different vegetables. Nuts can also be varied; walnuts or pecans offer a nice crunch, making it a delightful addition to your dish.
