A traditional rich and festive Christmas pudding packed with dried fruits, spices, and suet, perfect for sharing during holiday celebrations and igniting for a dramatic finish.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Almonds, chopped
  • 4 oz. Currants
  • 4 oz. Flour
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Ginger
  • 5 oz. Brown Sugar
  • 8 oz. Shredded Suet
  • 2 Eggs
  • 4 tbsp. Milk
  • 8 oz. Golden Raisins
  • 4 oz. Peel
  • 1/2 tsp. Nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Allspice
  • 4 oz. Bread Crumbs

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Add sufficient sherry or brandy to make it moist.
  3. Have each family member take a turn stirring and make a wish.
  4. Put the mixture in a bowl.
  5. Cover with wax paper and a pudding cloth.
  6. Steam for 4 hours.
  7. The pudding can then be stored in a cool, dry place for up to 18 months.
  8. Steam the pudding for another 3 hours before serving.
  9. Turn out onto a plate.
  10. Put a sprig of holly on top.
  11. Pour a little hot brandy over the top and ignite.
