Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 pints chopped dates
  • 1 1/2 pints chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 10 oz. bottle maraschino cherries

Instructions

  1. Blend flour, cinnamon, cloves, and soda together and set aside.
  2. Cream butter or margarine until smooth.
  3. Add sugar to the creamed mixture and continue blending.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Alternately add chopped cherries with juice and the dry ingredients, mixing well.
  6. Fold in chopped dates and pecans.
  7. Pour batter into a greased Bundt pan or a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C); for a 9 x 13-inch pan, bake 30 to 45 minutes.
  9. For a Bundt pan, bake 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  10. Test with a toothpick; it is done when the toothpick comes out clean.
