Ingredients

  • 1 lb. sirloin, cut into 1/4-inch thick pieces
  • 2 Tbsp. beef suet
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 slice garlic
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 bouillon cube
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 (16 oz.) can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 large green pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 4 cups hot cooked rice

Instructions

  1. Cut beef into serving pieces or narrow strips.
  2. Brown beef slowly in hot beef fat for about 15 minutes.
  3. Add chopped onion and garlic slice to the skillet.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Stir and cook for about 2 minutes longer.
  6. Dissolve bouillon cube in hot water.
  7. Add the bouillon mixture to the meat.
  8. Cover the skillet and let simmer until meat is almost done, about 20 to 30 minutes.
  9. Cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  10. Remove garlic slice from the skillet.
  11. Uncover the skillet and add a mixture of cornstarch, cold water, and soy sauce; stir well.
  12. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and cook for 5 minutes.
  13. Serve hot over cooked rice.
