Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/4 c. cold water
  • 3/4 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. minced parsley
  • 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. fine dry bread crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 4 slices Mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 c. spaghetti sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Mix lightly together the beef, water, seasoned salt, black pepper, and minced parsley with hands.
  2. Shape into 4 patties, about 3/4-inch thick.
  3. Coat both sides of patties with all-purpose flour.
  4. Dip patties into the beaten egg, then into dry bread crumbs.
  5. Brown the patties quickly in hot oil on both sides in a skillet.
  6. Arrange the browned patties in a shallow 1 1/2-quart baking dish.
  7. Put a slice of cheese on each patty.
  8. Pour spaghetti sauce over the patties.
  9. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  10. Bake at 400°F for about 25 minutes.
  11. Garnish with minced parsley before serving.
