Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup self-rising cornmeal
  • 1 cup canned milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup cream-style corn
  • 1/4 cup melted margarine
  • 1 jar salsa
  • shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and onion, then set aside.
  2. Make batter using cornmeal, canned milk, egg, cream-style corn, and melted margarine.
  3. Pour half of the batter into a greased baking dish.
  4. Spread the cooked beef mixture on top of the batter.
  5. Pour salsa over the beef layer.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the salsa.
  7. Top with the remaining batter.
  8. Bake at 325°F for 50 to 60 minutes.
