Kraft Bars combine rich caramel, chocolate chips, and a hearty oatmeal crust for a delicious treat perfect for satisfying sweet cravings and sharing with friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Kraft caramels (25 count)
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 3/4 c. melted margarine
  • 1 c. oatmeal
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Melt the Kraft caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in the top of a double boiler until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, salt, and soda.
  3. Add melted margarine to the dry ingredients and mix well.
  4. Stir in oatmeal and chopped nuts into the mixture.
  5. Press the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish to form the crust.
  6. Bake the crust at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Pour the melted caramel mixture over the baked crust and spread evenly.
  8. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the caramel layer.
  9. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the chocolate chips are melted.
  10. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
