Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 lb. bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 1/2 clove garlic or 1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 small can mushrooms
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. mixed Italian spices
  • 2 small cans tomato paste
  • 1 package lasagna noodles (about 6)
  • 1 carton Ricotta cheese
  • grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef, Italian sausage, and minced onion in a skillet.
  2. Pour off excess fat from the meat mixture.
  3. Add minced garlic or garlic powder, mushroom pieces, bay leaf, salt, pepper, Italian spices, and tomato paste to the skillet.
  4. Rinse each tomato paste can with 3 tablespoons of water and stir into the meat mixture.
  5. Simmer the meat mixture for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions.
  7. In a greased oblong baking dish, layer lasagna noodles, meat sauce, Ricotta cheese, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used.
  9. Bake in a 350°F oven for 45 minutes.
