Layer Tortilla Pie
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef ⓘ
- 1 medium onion, chopped ⓘ
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce ⓘ
- 1 garlic clove, minced ⓘ
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. salt ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. pepper ⓘ
- 1 (2 1/2 oz.) can sliced ripe olives, drained (optional) ⓘ
- 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine ⓘ
- 6 corn tortillas (6-inches) ⓘ
- 2 c. (8 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese ⓘ
- 1/4 c. water ⓘ
Instructions
- In a skillet, brown beef and onion; drain fat.
- Add tomato sauce, garlic, chili powder, salt and pepper.
- Add olives, if desired.
- Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Lightly butter tortillas on one side only.
- Place on tortilla, buttered side down, in a 2-quart round casserole.
- Spoon about 1/2 cup of meat mixture on the tortilla, then sprinkle about 1/3 cup cheese.
- Repeat layers, ending with cheese.
- Pour water around the sides of casserole (not over the top).
- Cover and bake at 400° for 20 minutes or until heated through.
- Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting.
- Makes 4 to 6 servings.
- Serve with shredded lettuce and sour cream, if desired.
