Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped walnuts ⓘ
- 1/2 cup mixed glace fruit ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon grated orange peel ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon freeze-dried coffee ⓘ
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg ⓘ
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/2 cup sourdough starter ⓘ
- rum glaze ⓘ
Instructions
- Mix chopped walnuts, mixed glace fruit, and grated orange peel in a bowl.
- Combine flour, baking soda, allspice, nutmeg, and freeze-dried coffee in a separate bowl.
- Sprinkle the flour mixture over the fruit and nut mixture and toss to combine.
- Cream the butter and brown sugar until fluffy in a large mixing bowl.
- Beat in the beaten egg until well incorporated.
- Add honey and sourdough starter alternately with the flour and fruit mixture, mixing well after each addition.
- Spread the dough evenly on a greased jelly roll pan.
- Bake in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for 15 minutes or until done.
- Remove from oven and frost with rum glaze.
- Let cool, then cut into bars to serve.
