Ingredients

  • 2 c. crushed corn flakes
  • 3 Tbsp. diced onion
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground chuck
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2/3 c. applesauce
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 2 1/2 c. tomato juice
  • 1 c. tomato soup
  • 1/2 c. catsup
  • 1/2 c. water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine crushed corn flakes, diced onion, ground chuck, salt, pepper, beaten egg, applesauce, and oregano in a mixing bowl.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs of desired size.
  4. Place meatballs in a baking dish.
  5. Bake for 1 hour at 350°F.
  6. Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine tomato juice, tomato soup, catsup, and water.
  7. Simmer the sauce until heated through and flavors meld.
  8. Serve the baked meatballs with the tomato sauce.
