Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. ground beef
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 2-3 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp. ground pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 2 slices white bread
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 3 c. water
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes

Instructions

  1. Mix together ground beef, 1 egg, half of the dry onion soup mix, 2-3 tablespoons soy sauce, pepper, garlic powder, and moistened bread slices.
  2. Shape the mixture into 4 patties.
  3. Cook the patties in a large skillet until browned and cooked through.
  4. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside, leaving any drippings in the skillet.
  5. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
  6. Combine flour with the remaining dry soup mix and add to the skillet.
  7. Stir in 3 cups water and bring to a boil.
  8. Add bouillon cubes and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly until the gravy reaches desired thickness.
  9. While gravy simmers, fry the remaining 4 eggs sunny-side up or over easy in another skillet and set aside.
  10. Place a generous amount of cooked white rice into each of 4 bowls.
  11. Top each bowl with a hamburger patty.
  12. Place one fried egg on top of each patty.
  13. Cover the rice, hamburger, and egg with the brown gravy generously.
