Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 c. sweet milk
  • 3 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. mace
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Prepare the batter by combining sugar, butter, eggs, sweet milk, sifted flour, baking powder, and mace.
  2. Pour half of the batter into a greased baking pan.
  3. Sprinkle the top with raisins, chopped nuts, and a light dusting of sugar, nuts, and mace.
  4. Pour the remaining batter over the sprinkled layer.
  5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes until golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
