Ingredients

  • 1 c. maple sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. raisins

Instructions

  1. Cream the maple sugar and shortening until fluffy; beat in the egg.
  2. Combine the dry ingredients: flour, soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and cloves.
  3. Add the dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk to the creamed mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Fold in the raisins.
  5. Spoon the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
