Ingredients

  • 2 lb shredded cabbage
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 lb ground beef or meat loaf mixture
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp flour
  • 1 egg
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 onion chopped

Instructions

  1. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter or margarine in a large Dutch oven.
  2. Add shredded cabbage and cook, stirring, until wilted.
  3. Add soy sauce and cover, cooking for 15 minutes.
  4. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and sugar to the cabbage mixture.
  5. In a bowl, mix together ground beef or meat loaf mixture, 1 teaspoon salt, flour, egg, pepper, chopped onion, and milk.
  6. In a 2-quart baking dish, layer cabbage, meat mixture, cabbage, meat mixture, and ending with cabbage.
  7. Dot the top with butter.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour, uncovered.
