Ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
  • 2 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef, 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese, bread crumbs, egg, chopped celery, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  2. Mix well and shape into a ball.
  3. Place in a shallow 9-inch round pan and flatten the ball almost to the sides of the pan.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
  5. Pour off drippings and spread tomato sauce over the meat loaf.
  6. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of remaining shredded cheese and bake an additional 15 minutes.
  7. Cut into pie-shaped wedges to serve.
