Beef Vegetable Pie
A hearty beef and vegetable pie featuring savory ground beef, tender vegetables, and flaky pastry pockets, perfect for comforting family dinners or casual gatherings.

- Sauté the sliced carrots, cabbage, chopped onion, and margarine in a heavy skillet for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove to a large bowl.
- In the same skillet, brown the ground beef and drain excess fat.
- Add hot water, brown gravy mix, salt, savory, and pepper to the beef. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet with the beef mixture. Mix well.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread out the pastry pockets on a baking sheet.
- Place about 2 tablespoons of the beef and vegetable filling onto each pastry pocket.
- Fold over the pastry pockets and pinch the edges together to seal.
- Make 3 to 4 slits in the back of each pastry to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the tops of the pastry pockets with a mixture of beaten egg and water.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, until golden brown.
