Ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 clove crushed garlic
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • dash of hot pepper sauce
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • flour (to coat meatballs)
  • 4 strips bacon
  • 1 c. strong coffee
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. chili sauce
  • 1 c. water

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef, crushed garlic, minced onion, salt, bread crumbs, mustard, hot pepper sauce, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
  2. Shape mixture into about 2½ dozen meatballs and coat each with flour.
  3. Cook bacon strips in a skillet until crisp, then remove and set aside.
  4. Brown the meatballs in the bacon grease, turning them until evenly browned; remove from the pan.
