Ingredients

  • 1 lb. medium hot sausage
  • 1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans
  • 1 lb. can stewed tomatoes
  • 2 c. tomato juice
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 rib celery, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 lb. can whole kernel corn
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar

Instructions

  1. Brown the sausage in a heavy pan; drain off excess grease.
  2. Combine all ingredients except the corn and sugar in a pot.
  3. Simmer the mixture for approximately 1 hour to develop flavors.
  4. Add the corn and sugar during the last 5 minutes, just to heat through.
