Instructions
- Beat shortening and brown sugar until creamy.
- Beat in eggs and molasses.
- Mix dry ingredients and stir in raisins and nuts, if used.
- Stir flour mixture into molasses mixture.
- Drop dough from a teaspoon onto a lightly greased baking sheet, spacing cookies about 2 inches apart.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10 to 12 minutes or until set but not hard.
- Remove from baking sheet while warm.
