A hearty casserole combining seasoned ground meats, vegetables, cheese, and noodles in a savory tomato-based sauce, perfect for feeding a large group with rich flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. noodles
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 1 bunch celery
  • pinch of soda
  • bacon fat
  • 6 onions
  • 2 green peppers
  • 2 1/2 lb. ground pork
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 can mushrooms
  • 1 lb. cheese
  • garlic
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Drain boiled and blanched noodles; set aside.
  2. Simmer together in a skillet the tomato soup, tomatoes, celery, and soda.
  3. In another skillet, brown the onions, green peppers, pork, and beef in bacon fat.
  4. Stir in mushrooms and grated cheese.
  5. Add garlic and salt to taste.
  6. Simmer until cheese is melted, then combine with noodles and tomato mixture.
  7. Place all in 2 large glass casseroles and cook at 350°F until bubbly.
