Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb butter
  • 1 lb pecans
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 lb orange peel
  • 1 box raisins
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 boxes chopped dates
  • 1 lb brown sugar
  • 4 c flour
  • 1/2 lb candied pineapple
  • 1/4 lb lemon peel
  • 1 box currants
  • 1/2 c dark syrup

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and brown sugar well in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add well-beaten eggs, flour, and baking powder to the creamed mixture and blend thoroughly.
  3. Mix the fruit with a cup of flour to coat it evenly.
  4. Add the floured fruit mixture into the batter and combine well.
  5. Pour the batter into a prepared baking pan.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool before serving.
