Ingredients
- 8 cups sliced, peeled fresh or frozen peaches, thawed ⓘ

- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar ⓘ

- 2 cups self-rising flour ⓘ

- 1/2 cup shortening ⓘ
- 3/4 cup buttermilk ⓘ
Instructions
- In a Dutch oven, combine peaches, 1 cup sugar, water, cornstarch, and cinnamon.
- Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
- Transfer the peach mixture to a 3-quart rectangular baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine self-rising flour, 2 teaspoons sugar, and shortening to make the biscuit topping.
- Stir in buttermilk until just combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter over the peach filling.
- Sprinkle brown sugar and chopped pecans over the batter.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 35 minutes or until golden brown.
