Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 (16 oz.) can pumpkin
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, cream cheese, and margarine, mixing at medium speed on electric mixer until well blended.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Blend in pumpkin.
  4. Add combined dry ingredients, mixing just until moistened.
  5. Fold in chopped nuts.
  6. Pour batter into two greased and floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pans.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
  8. Cool for 5 minutes; remove from pans.
