Tips & Substitutions

For a crispy texture, ensure the oil is hot enough before frying the egg rolls. If you don't have bay shrimp, you can substitute with cooked shrimp or crab. Experiment with adding finely chopped vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for extra flavor and nutrition. You can also use store-bought sweet and sour sauce for dipping, which pairs beautifully with these seafood egg rolls.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these seafood egg rolls with a side of soy sauce or sweet chili sauce for dipping. They also pair well with a light salad or a bowl of hot soup, such as miso or wonton soup. For a complete meal, consider serving them alongside Vegetable Stir-Up, or enjoy them as an appetizer at your next gathering.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover egg rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 10-15 minutes until crispy, or use an air fryer for best results. Avoid microwaving as it can make the wraps soggy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bake the egg rolls instead of frying them?

Yes, you can bake the egg rolls for a healthier option. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C), brush the egg rolls with a little oil, and bake for about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown.

What can I use instead of egg roll wraps?

If you can't find egg roll wraps, you can use spring roll wrappers or even make your own using flour and water. Alternatively, lettuce wraps can be a fresh, low-carb option.

How do I know when the egg rolls are done frying?

The egg rolls are done when they are golden brown and crispy. You can test one by removing it from the oil and breaking it open; the filling should be hot and cooked through. Make sure to fry them in small batches to maintain oil temperature.
