Seafood Strata is a hearty layered casserole combining seafood, cheese, bread, and eggs, ideal for brunch or family dinners with rich, savory flavors and comforting textures.

Ingredients

  • 2 (7 1/2 oz.) cans crab or shrimp or 1 of each
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 pound Old English cheese, cubed
  • salt (optional)
  • 8 slices bread, crust removed and cubed
  • 6 beaten eggs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • fresh ground pepper
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 can water chestnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grease a baking dish lightly.
  2. Layer bread, Old English cheese, seafood (crab or shrimp or both), and more cheese in the dish.
  3. In a bowl, beat eggs, then mix in melted butter and milk.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the layered ingredients.
  5. Refrigerate overnight before baking.
