Ingredients

  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 3 medium carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 1/8 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 lb lean hamburger, browned with 1 chopped onion
  • 1 quart chopped tomatoes
  • buttered bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Layer the sliced potatoes, carrots, rice, and browned ground beef with chopped onions in a buttered casserole dish, adding salt and pepper each time.
  2. Repeat layering in the same order until all ingredients are used.
  3. Sprinkle buttered bread crumbs over the top.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1½ hours or until the dish is cooked through and bubbly.
