Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups dark raisins
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 stick butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
  3. Mix together all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a bowl.
  4. Stir in dark raisins and golden raisins.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat together buttermilk, brown sugar, and melted butter at medium speed until well blended.
  6. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  7. At low speed, beat the flour mixture into the buttermilk mixture, 1/2 cup at a time, until well combined.
  8. Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 50 to 60 minutes.
  10. Transfer the pan to a wire rack and cool for 10 minutes.
  11. Run a metal spatula around the sides of the pan to loosen the bread.
  12. Turn the bread out onto the rack and cool completely.
