Ingredients

  • 1 box filo pastry
  • 2 boxes frozen spinach
  • 1 1/3 cups chopped yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup blanched almonds
  • 1/2 pound Feta cheese
  • 1 cup mushrooms
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons dill
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 pound melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a frying pan, fry the onions and mushrooms together until cooked.
  2. Ensure the cooked spinach is well drained, then combine it with the almonds, beaten eggs, bread crumbs, dill, nutmeg, and Feta cheese in a bowl.
  3. Add the mushroom and onion mixture to the bowl and mix well.
  4. Layer the filo pastry in a baking dish, spread the filling evenly, then cover with more filo and brush with melted butter.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 40 minutes or until golden brown.
