Ingredients

  • 1 lb. steak (1/2-inch thick)
  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1/2 green pepper, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked or canned tomatoes
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1/4 tsp. celery salt
  • 1 tsp. prepared mustard

Instructions

  1. Melt oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Saute sliced onion and green pepper until tender.
  3. Cut the steak into serving pieces, season with salt and pepper, and coat with flour.
  4. Remove onions and peppers from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Brown the steak pieces in the skillet.
  6. Top the browned steak with the sautéed onions and peppers.
  7. Mix cooked or canned tomatoes with thyme, celery salt, and prepared mustard.
  8. Pour the tomato mixture over the steak and vegetables.
  9. Cover the skillet tightly and cook slowly for 1 hour or until the meat is tender.
