Ingredients

  • 4 cups dry bread cubes or crumbs
  • 1 pound bulk sausage, browned and drained
  • 1/2 cup green peppers, minced
  • 1 cup green onions, sliced
  • 8 eggs, beaten
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 pound sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 teaspoons ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 8 bacon slices, fried crisp, drained and crumbled

Instructions

  1. Butter a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle bread cubes evenly over the bottom of the dish.
  3. Sprinkle cooked sausage over the bread cubes.
  4. Place minced green peppers and sliced green onions over the sausage layer.
  5. In a mixing bowl, beat eggs; then add milk, grated cheese, ground mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and paprika, mixing well.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the sausage and bread layers.
  7. Sprinkle crumbled bacon over the top.
  8. Cover the dish and refrigerate overnight.
  9. Bake uncovered at 350°F for 50 to 60 minutes until set and golden.
